Credit notes
Crediting an invoice, open credit, and the credit notes page
A credit note reduces what a client owes on an invoice, for a return, a mistake or a discount after the fact.
Issuing one
Credit notes are issued from the invoice they credit. Open the invoice and choose Issue credit note in the ⋮ menu. Under What to credit, choose the Full invoice, Some lines (with a Credit qty per line), The rest or An amount, and give a Reason, which is printed on the credit note. Credit and refund also records the money you paid back. Items tracked in Inventory that a client returns come back onto the shelf.
Credit that isn't used against the invoice stays with the client as open credit until it's applied or refunded.
The credit notes page
Credit notes has its own page in the sidebar; the invoice list shows invoices only. Stats across the top show what was Credited this month and the Open credit: what's left with clients, not yet applied or refunded. Search by client or number.
