Moving from Sage Pastel
What comes across from Sage Pastel Partner, how the numbers are checked, and what happens to your history
If your company runs its books and stock in Sage Pastel Partner, Looped can bring it across with its history, and check that the numbers match Pastel before anyone starts working in Looped. The move is done with you by the Looped team; it isn't something you start from a settings page. Email support@looped.sh to plan one.
What comes across
Looped reads the Pastel company folders directly, so nothing has to be exported by hand. Each financial year comes across on its own.
| In Pastel | In Looped |
|---|---|
| Chart of accounts and the general ledger | Financials: the accounts and every year's entries |
| Customers, with their account codes and delivery addresses | Invoices: clients, keeping the Pastel code as the client code |
| Sales reps and customer categories | Invoices: sales codes and client categories |
| Open invoices and credit notes | Invoices: each as its own document, so statements and age analysis match |
| Balance-forward customers | Invoices: their balance, brought forward |
| Quotes and sales orders | Invoices: linked to the invoices they became |
| Suppliers, with their account codes | Financials: suppliers, keeping the Pastel code as the supplier code |
| Open supplier invoices and supplier returns | Financials: supplier invoices and supplier returns |
| Inventory items, their suppliers and maximum levels | Inventory: items, with every supplier you've bought them from |
| Stock on hand | Inventory: opening stock, already in the books |
| Open purchase orders | Inventory: purchase orders, with what's still to come |
| Sales and purchase history | Inventory and Invoices reports, for the years it covers |
Invoice numbering carries on from Pastel's serials.
How the numbers are checked
Before you switch, the move proves that Looped matches Pastel:
- Trial balance: every account agrees with Pastel's trial balance, for each year.
- Debtors: what each client owes in Looped agrees with Pastel, and in total with the Debtors control account.
- Creditors: open supplier invoices and returns agree with the Creditors control account.
Anything that doesn't match is looked at with you before the move is signed off.
Your history
The years you're still working in are live in Looped. Older closed years are kept as archives: reports, comparatives, statements and an item's stock history still reach them, and they load when a page asks for them. Archived years are read-only. You can see them in Financials under Settings → History; see Archived years.
